Marlins edge Braves in 10 innings, snap 5-game skid

Marlins improve to 2-6, while Braves fall to 4-4

The Miami Marlins (2-6) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves (4-4) in 10 innings on Sunday at loanDepot park.

Marlins’ offense comes alive in 10th inning

The Marlins broke through in the 10th inning against Braves reliever Jesse Chavez (0-1). With runners on first and third with two outs, shortstop Miguel Rojas lined a single to right field to score Avisaíl García and give the Marlins the lead.

The Braves had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the 10th, but Travis d’Arnaud grounded out to end the game.

Marlins’ pitching staff comes up big

The Marlins’ bullpen was solid on Sunday. After starter Trevor Rogers allowed two runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings, relievers Anthony Bender (1-0), Tanner Scott, and Dylan Floro (1) combined to allow just one hit over the final 5 1/3 innings.

The Braves had their chances to score late, but they left 10 runners on base. Ronald Acuña Jr. went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, and Matt Olson was 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Marlins snap losing streak

The Marlins have now won two of their last three games after starting the season 0-5. They will look to continue their winning ways when they open a three-game series against the New York Mets on Monday at loanDepot park.

The Braves will look to bounce back when they open a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday at Truist Park.
