Ceremony to Take Place at Scotiabank Saddledome

Former Vezina Trophy Winner to be Honored

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames will retire the number of former goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff in a special ceremony at the Scotiabank Saddledome on March 1, 2024.

Kiprusoff, who played for the Flames from 2003 to 2013, is the franchise's all-time wins leader with 303. He also won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goaltender in 2006 and was a four-time All-Star.

"Miikka Kiprusoff was one of the most dominant goaltenders in Flames history," said Flames president and general manager Brad Treliving. "He was a key part of our success during his time here, and we are proud to retire his number in recognition of his contributions to the team and the city of Calgary."

Kiprusoff said he is "honored and humbled" by the Flames' decision to retire his number.

"Calgary was a special place for me and my family," Kiprusoff said. "I have so many great memories of my time with the Flames, and I am grateful for the support of the fans."

The Flames will also unveil a statue of Kiprusoff outside the Scotiabank Saddledome on March 1. The statue will be a permanent reminder of Kiprusoff's legacy with the team.
